The 2nd Annual Cinco De Mayo Salsa Challenge Fundraiser brought hundreds of salsa lovers to the front porch of Traditions Restaurant, Cafe & Pub on May 5 to taste test a dozen entries, all in the name of raising crucial funds for End 68 Hours of Hunger/ MWV. This public non-profit effort confronts the approximately 68 hours of hunger that some school children experience between the free lunch they receive in school Friday and the free breakfast they receive in school Monday.
Purity Spring Resort management recently presented Mandy MacDonald, representing the local chapter of the organization, with a check for $1,500.
Donations were collected from those attending, tasting, and voting in the salsa challenge. An additional matching donation was made by Purity Spring Resort contributing to the total funds raised.
The Salsa Challenge was followed by a Cinco De Mayo Fiesta Feast at Traditions Restaurant. The full house of happy diners enjoyed menu specialties including margarita flights, tacos, enchiladas and other Mexican delights. Traditions look forward to hosting a 3rd Annual event in 2024.
